Q: What is your initial franchise fee?

A: $40,000.

 
Q: How much is the total investment needed to secure a GNC Franchise?

A: Although it varies, typically the initial investment is upwards of $200,000.*

Q: What costs are included in the total investment*?

Q: What is the franchising royalty fee?

A: 6% of Gross Sales and is exclusive of any sales tax and documented refunds

 
Q: What about advertising?

A: Franchisees contribute 3 % of their gross sales in support of these campaigns. GNC invests millions of dollars in national advertising campaigns to help drive traffic into stores around the country. GNC designs and provides franchisees with information and tools to help them execute local marketing to drive traffic to their individual store.

 
Q: How much can I expect to earn?

A: Your earnings capability will depend on a number of factors. Naturally, as in any business venture there is no guarantee of your success or profitability. We do, however, give you the benefit of a well-organized system and a concept refined by our many years of experience. Item 19 in our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) provides the only earnings claim we are allowed by law to make.

 
Q: Does GNC offer direct financing?

A: Yes, GNC has financing options available to qualified candidates on select locations.

 
Q: Is there a Protected Territory around my location?

A: You may be awarded a protected territory under the terms of your franchise agreement.

 
Q: Do I purchase inventory from GNC?

A: There are certain brand names and product requirements for your stores' inventory that may be purchased from GNC or other manufacturers and distributors. However, GNC brand supplements which are part of your required inventory can only be purchased from GNC. Whenever possible, we use the combined purchasing strength of our global chain to affect purchasing economies that will benefit your stores and the entire operation.

 
Q: Do I receive training from GNC?

A: Absolutely! We have a great training program for new Franchise operators! There are 3 phases of training:
     Phase I: After a store has been awarded you will spend one week training at a designated GNC Store Location
     Phase II: One week of classroom training at GNC Headquarters in Pittsburgh, PA
     Phase III: GNC field representative will work with you during the first week your store is open

 
Q: How will GNC support me after I open my store?

A: We provide ongoing support in the form of the GNC Franchise Operations Manual to help you with day-to-day operations; field support from a dedicated franchise field representative; ongoing purchasing services; inventory management; financial services; technical assistance; as well as guidance and resources for your promotional, operational and other business needs. Plus, you can access a variety of on-line resources through our franchise intranet-support system.

 
Q: Can I sell my GNC store?

A: Yes. Like any other business, you can sell your stores to a buyer approved by the company. There is a transfer fee for administrative, legal and training expenses that affect the transfer, and the company has the right to match any offer you receive. GNC must approve all sales.

 
Q: What is the term of the franchise agreement?

A: Our current policy is that the franchise may be renewed, at GNC's discretion, in five-year increments (no limit), provided that the GNC store is in good standing.

 

 
Q: I would like to study your franchise agreement. Will you send me one?

A: Our franchise agreement is a valued document which we do not indiscriminately distribute. However, once you have a personal meeting with a member of our franchising team, we will be happy to provide you with a copy of our Franchise Disclosure Document (FDD) that includes an example of our franchise agreement. The FDD will help you in deciding whether to pursue the GNC Franchise opportunity.

Q: What characteristics represent GNC's ideal franchise candidate?

A: Since GNC develops international markets on a country-wide basis, our ideal candidate is a financially secure corporation that is native to the country being developed. The company should be capable of developing an appropriate number of stores for the market.

 
Q: How much is the total investment needed to secure an International Development Agreement with GNC?

A: Developing GNC retail stores throughout a country requires a substantial investment. Although it varies, typically the initial investment is upwards of $3 million (U.S. dollars).*

Q: What is the ongoing royalty fee?

A: The royalty fee is currently five percent of your monthly gross sales (on both the Development and Distribution Agreements).

 
Q: Am I given any territorial protection?

A: You will be awarded an exclusive protected territory under the terms of your Franchise Development Agreement.

 
Q: Do I purchase inventory from GNC?

A: We use the combined purchasing strength of our global chain to affect purchasing economies that will benefit your stores and the entire operation. GNC branded supplements, which are part of your required inventory, can only be purchased from GNC. There are certain 3rd party brands that may be used to augment your stores' inventory that may be purchased from GNC or other manufacturers and distributors.

 
Q: Do I receive training from GNC?

A: Yes, new franchise operators are required to successfully complete a training program provided by GNC which takes place at our offices in Pittsburgh. GNC will also provide field support during your first store opening.

 
Q: What form of continuing operational guidance will I receive?

A: You will receive the GNC International Franchise Operations Manual to help you with day-to-day operations. You will also be assigned a dedicated Director of Franchise Operations (DFO) to help with business analysis and market development, product selection and inventory management, retail sales and operational field support. In addition, GNC also provides guidance and resources for your ongoing marketing, training and other business needs.
