At the 2007 GNC Franchise Convention, held in Orlando, Florida last June, Shakil Kazi, of Hackensack, NJ, was awarded for his outstanding efforts in making his store a success.

Kazi has passion for the GNC brand products. The brand name was one of the reasons he chose to open a franchise store for GNC. “I knew with GNC, there was no risk factor. I was sure to make money by working hard to sell something I’m really passionate about.”

He said he wanted to join a company that was already successful, provided outstanding company support and offered the best products to its customers. He found that with GNC.

Kazi continues to increase his stores sales year after year. By the end of 2007 his store reached $870,000 in sales. One of the main areas of focus for Kazi and his team are their customers. They provide customers with honesty, knowledge and promote GNC’s high quality products. “I was in a place where I wasn’t focused on making money. I just wanted to increase my customer base. And we did,” he said. By placing the focus on customers, he increased his margin by 10%.

“The most important area of our business is providing outstanding customer service,” said Kazi. “We make it a point to offer the best customer service possible by making the customer feel comfortable with maximum attention.

By training his sales associates to understand all of the benefits, ingredients and features of each product, they are able to consistently meet their customers’ health needs. “The sales associates are confident with what they are selling and our customers are happy with the results,” Kazi said. “We never offer products that are not up to GNC standards.”

“It’s a lot of effort, but it’s worth it,” Kazi said about running his business. “It’s all about team work, keeping your stores neat and clean and providing maximum attention to your customers.”

Kazi says that with the amount of advertising and the high quality products the company provides, there was no way he couldn’t be successful in the supplement business. “I like the business. GNC offers quality products and has great brand name recognition. I couldn’t choose a better company to run a small business for.”
